Happy Hedgehogs Nursery School aims to:

Our Curriculum:
We firmly believe that children learn through play!
Our excellent, theme based educational programme includes the ‘CAPS’ curriculum, Letterland and sensory/motor integration activities which not only prepares them for ‘big’ school but also for life! We are a Christian based school where we learn to share, care, respect and know that we are ‘smart, kind and important’.
Our safe environment:
Our school is securely situated in the Randjesfontein estate. Access is through a boomed gate and strict measures are taken when fetching children. Monitor Net guard and patrol our premises and each staff member has a panic button.
Our staff are trained in First Aid and Covid rules are still enforced.
Healthy cooked meals are served daily,
The safety and well being of the children are our utmost priority.
Our teachers, classes and playground:
Education is our passion! Our excellent team of staff are trained, experienced and attend regular courses to offer the best programme for the children.
Currently, we have 3 classes, namely the Curious Caterpillars (18months – turning 3), the Busy Bees (3-4 years old) and the Brilliant Butterflies (5-6 years old).
Our beautiful, bright and well ventilated class rooms are fully equipped with age appropriate educational toys, desks, chairs and stack beds for those staying for rest time and aftercare. Each class has 15 learners for optimum and individual attention and an assistant teacher who attends to the children’s immediate needs and care.
Our expansive and well manicured playground is equipped with age appropriate jungle gyms, sand/water play experiences, gardening opportunities, ball and other gross motor equipment. We encourage lots of outdoor play in our delightful meadow.
Our extra mural and special activities:
We strive to make every day an extra special one for every learner by offering stimulating and fun lessons, such as sensory Table Days where children experience a wide variety of fine motor and sensory experiences, interactive Bible stories, Science experiments, Baking days, bicycle days, exercusions to ‘our’ farm on the premises, picnics, music/ movement lessons and ‘Show and Tell’ demonstrations.
Our weekly extra murals include BC ActiveKidz (powered by Happy Hedgehogs), Computer Creche Course, Karate, Swimming and Pottery.
These activities are approved by the school, privately run and do not clash with our timtable.
We have an incredible support team of therapists namely Kerry McIntyre (Paed Physical Therapist) and Jennifer Brueton (Occupational Therapist)
